HYDE PARK – There are 1,454 miles between the Town of Hyde Park and the City of Houston, Texas, yet Hyde Park is going to enter into a cooperative purchasing agreement with the Houston-Galveston Area Council.

The Hyde Park Town Board approved the agreement Monday evening. Town Supervisor Aileen Rohr said it will save the town money on its purchases.

“It sounds very strange that we are piggybacking on the Houston-Galveston Area Council, but it is something a little bit like the collective we are already participating in, which enables us to bid prices at a reduced level,” she said.

Cooperative purchases can range from office supplies to equipment and automobiles.
