HUDSON – City Police in Hudson have arrested a 29-year-old local man on several charges following a domestic incident.

Police were called to a reported domestic dispute in the area of Columbia Turnpike in the city at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21. The caller said a woman was screaming for help.

The victim told responding officers that a man, later identified as Jordan Couitt, 29, of Hudson, who is on state parole, had choked her while she had her infant child. He fled on foot. Officers located him, but he fled, circled back to the residence and was found hiding in a bedroom where he was detained.

Investigation found that Couitt had also taken the woman’s cell phone to prevent her from calling police.

He was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing/blood circulation, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief for preventing communication and intentionally damaging property, harassment, unlawful possession of marijuana and violation of parole.

Couitt was arraigned and issued $100 cash bail or bond on the new charged and remanded to the Columbia County Jail on the active parole warrant. He had been convicted of felony robbery.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Greenport Police Department assisted Hudson City Police with the investigation and arrest.
