Poughkeepsie man arrested in Ulster with vehicle stolen in Massachusetts

KINGSTON – A 63-year-old Poughkeepsie man has been arrested by Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies after he was stopped while driving a 2001 Dodge Ram on Ulster Avenue in the Town of Ulster.

Robert Schooley was stopped at 10:30 in the morning on October 8 for driving with a taillight out.

Investigation revealed the truck was stolen on September 21 from Egremont, Massachusetts.

He was driving it with a suspended license and provided deputies with a false name.

Schooley is currently being supervised by the State Department of Corrections and Community Renewal for a previous conviction.

He arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.

The investigation is continuing.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s was assisted by the Egremont Police Department and New York State Department of Corrections and Community Renewal.
