Assemblyman hosting drug disposal in Yorktown

YORKTOWN – Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,Ref-Mahopac) will be hosting his annual “Shed the Meds” event with the Yorktown Police Department, Alliance for Safe Kids and Drug Crisis In Our Backyard on Thursday, September 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The event, at the Yorktown Police Department, 2281 Crompond Road, Yorktown Heights, will be held rain or shine with proper social distancing measures in place. Residents can drop off any expired or unwanted medication to be safely disposed of by officers from the Yorktown Police Department.

Residents are asked to bring medications in a clear plastic bag. Acceptable items include prescriptions, prescription medications, prescription patches, prescription ointments, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, samples, and medication for pets.

Items not accepted are needles, medication from businesses or clinics, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide, inhalers, aerosol cans, ointments, lotions, or liquids. For more information, please contact Assemblyman Byrne’s district office at (845) 278-2923 or byrnek@nyassembly.gov.
