MONTGOMERY – Forty-seven local businesses in the Town of Montgomery that have suffered from COVID-19 are the recipients of a total of $82,000 raised through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.

Town Supervisor Brian Maher said the funds were distributed to those businesses that were the hardest hit.

“We prioritized the businesses that were forced to shut down to the pandemic and had no revenue streams and were unable to accept other federal programs like PPE, which a lot of our smaller businesses who do not have a payroll system were unable to do,” he said. “We were also able to help businesses in specific situations with PPP and other programs. So we were able to help those most in need and also provide relief to businesses that were struggling as well.”

The grants ranged from $750 to $2,500 based on the severity of each business’ situation.
