MONTICELLO – Bonnie Finkel, of  Port Jervis lost her son Justin, then 14, more than a year ago when he was struck by a car driven Isaac Kantrowitz, a retired Town of Fallsburg justice, in Rock Hill.

On Thursday, Meagan Galligan, the acting Sullivan County District Attorney, briefed the media about the progression of that case and others, including a 2017 homicide in Town of Thompson,  a 2020 Cochecton shooting, and a 2020 fatal crash in Callicoon, toward the consideration of grand jury proceedings.

“I have tried to keep the families informed of work that needs to be done,” said Galligan.

After meeting with Galligan for about 30 minutes following the media briefing, Finkel said she hopeful something was happening to bring justice from her son’s death in the accident, which also claimed the life of 16-year-old Devin Zeniger.

“I am just grateful something is progressing. We’ll know soon enough what’s going to happen. We’re getting somewhere,” she said. “I suffer everyday missing my boy. I think about him all the time.”

It was on June 2, 2019 when the 86-year-old Kantrowitz was driving on Glen Wild Road in Rock Hill when he struck and killed the two teenagers.
