NEW PALTZ – A disruption in the supply chain of envelopes from a company responsible for producing and mailing absentee ballot mailing delays in school districts across the state.

School budget and board member voting this year is being conducted strictly by mail because of the COVID-19 pandemic with the ballots due back by 5 p.m. on June 9.

But because of the delivery and mailing issue by the contract company, ballots may be delayed arriving you people’s addresses and could potentially be mailed back after the deadline.

So, the New Paltz Central School District has placed locked ballot boxes at each of the district’s four school buildings. The boxes are monitored by school security cameras to safeguard ballots and ensure the integrity of the vote. The boxes ae in place through 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 9.
