POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County ended 2019 with a general fund surplus of $1.4 million and a $56.9 million unassigned general fund balance.

But County Executive Marc Molinaro said the county’s strong financial condition is essential as the county continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and related economic impacts.

“We are guestimating that we are somewhere between a $15 and $40 million impact because of loss of revenue and new expenditures,” he said.

Molinaro said he is also keeping a close eye on the state’s 2020-21 budget and it’s projected deficits as state revenue supports 16 percent of the county’s 2020 adopted budget.
