HUDSON VALLEY – The number of people to succumb to COVID-19 in the Hudson Valley/Catskills region is now up to 1,890.

The greatest number of deaths continues to be in Westchester County, at 1,006.

Rockland County reported 392 deaths; Orange County, 311; Dutchess, 68; Putnam, 45; Ulster, 30; Sullivan, 22; Columbia, 14, and Greene County, two.

State health department officials tracking the virus say it appears on a downward trajectory with Governor Cuomo hoping to begin a slow reopening of the economy in areas of the state least hit by COVID-19.
