POUGHKEEPSIE – Police in the City of Poughkeepsie had their hands full Tuesday night with large crowds gathering in two locations. In one incident, a dirt bike operator was involved in a serious accident at the intersection of Baker Street and Worrall Avenue and later died. That accident is being examined by accident investigators.

That incident began around 7:16 p.m. when officers were called to a group of over 200 unruly people in the streets. Several were riding ATVs and motorcycles around streets and yards driving recklessly and taunting officers.

About an hour-and-a-half earlier, police were called to a large number of people gathered in the area of Fox Terrace and South White Street. Officers found some 50 or more people gathered with several vehicles parked illegally and impeding traffic. Officers addressed the issues by speaking with several people.
