POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department received a much-needed replenishment of surgical masks, donated by Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) in Poughkeepsie.

Sistine DeLuca, manager of the North Road OSJL met with Fire Chief Mark Johnson last week to deliver 400 masks that the firefighters are using on calls where there is minimal contact with civilians.

“We are very appreciative of the support provided by the community, including retailers like Ocean State Job Lot,” said Johnson.  “Our firefighters, like all first-responders, are on the frontlines of this pandemic and we appreciate all of the protection and support that we receive.”  Poughkeepsie firefighter and IAFF Local 596 Vice-president Brian Ineson called the donation “A much needed and appreciated show of support from the community that knows we are here to help around the clock, every day of the year.”

OSJL has been working to keep first responders safe throughout the northeast by donating supplies.  “During this time of crisis, Ocean State Job Lot is using its global supply chain to source critical supplies and immediately provide them to the frontline workers,” said DeLuca.

OSJL has 139 stores in New England, New York, and Pennsylvania.  DeLuca pointed out that the retail chain has contributed $250,000 towards the effort and has been asking customers to donate at the register.  “Our customers have been incredibly generous,” said the manager who added, “100% of the donations go towards our effort to keep the frontline workers safe.”
