MONTICELLO – Road Patrol deputies in the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office are being stationed at satellite facilities rather than all being housed in the sheriff’s office in Monticello.

Undersheriff Eric Chaboty said the members are being spread out in an effort to minimize the threat of them contracting coronavirus.

“We are having them go to our Neversink substation, which is in the firehouse at that location. There is a substation at the Callicoon hospital. We have a substation down in Bloomingburg. The deputies will report there at the start of their shift and work out of there. You will start seeing cars in those areas. They will cover the various patrol posts from the satellite areas of the county,” he said. “This is to reduce any possibility of cross-infection, if there is any.”

Chaboty said the county jail is disinfected at the change of each shift, a routine that is performed on a regular basis because of flu. “We are prepared for anything that might occur there,” he said.
