MONTICELLO – Effective Wednesday, March 11, the Sullivan County Clerk’s Office will add a $10 fee to all residential deed recordings. The fee will not apply to commercial transactions.
The law, approved by the state, allows “a reasonable fee” to be assessed for those notices.
The State Association of County Clerks has determined that $10 is a reasonable fee per document.
In Sullivan County, the fee will apply to residential deed documents executed on or after March 11 and received over the counter or through the mail. For deed documents that are recorded electronically, the fee will apply to those documents submitted on or after March 11.
