NEW YORK – Metro-North Railroad is taking precautions against the coronavirus with protocols in place for emergency scenarios like a public health crisis, officials said.

The railroad is taking a series of measures to protect the public and employees, including sharing information about how to stay healthy, in English, Chinese, Spanish, Russian and Korean.

It has extended hours for flu shots for MTA employees, implemented enhanced sanitizing procedures and adding to its stockpile of hygienic supplies on hand.

In keeping with CDC recommendations, everyone is encouraged to wash their hands often with soap and water; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, avoid close contact with people who are sick, stay home when you are sick, cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw it away, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, and if you are experiencing symptoms and have traveled to areas of concern, call ahead to your doctor before you go in person.
