Spring Valley man charged with assault following V&T stop

NYACK – A Spring Valley man was committed to the Rockland County Jail after he was stopped in Nyack for a vehicle and traffic violation resisted arrest.

Orangetown Police stopped a 2004 Lincoln sedan at 2 in the morning on February 28.

The officer believed the driver, Tyrell Bridgers, 36, appeared to be intoxicated. A check of his driver’s license revealed it was suspended.

After being instructed to get out of the car, he refused and resisted arrest.

One officer was injured during the arrest.

Bridgers was charged with felony assault, and misdemeanors of resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, driving while intoxicated, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, as well disorderly conduct and harassment as violations.

When Bridgers was arrested and brought to Orangetown Police headquarters, he refused to take a breathalyzer test.
