KINGSTON – After more than six decades of serving the people of the Hudson Valley, Gateway Community Industries has announced that it has changed its name and will now be known as Gateway Hudson Valley.

President and CEO Stephanie Turco, LCSW, said the name change reflects the non-profit’s growth and diversification into new areas needed to support seniors and persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and economic challenges.
“We have grown dramatically since 1956 when we had five clients who were blind assembling rubber doormats in a room donated by the Kingston YMCA. Today, Gateway Hudson Valley supports more than 1,000 people in Ulster, Dutchess and Columbia counties with housing and employment services to therapeutic services to mobile meals for seniors, and more,” Turco said.

“Our new name reflects the fact that our services have broadened along with the area we serve, but our vision remains the same. We will continue to be a leader in the community, supporting individuals as they strive to create hopeful, active, satisfying and productive lives,” Turco said.

Gateway Hudson Valley’s mission is to “Assist people in choosing, acquiring, using, and maintaining the skills and supports necessary to achieve success and satisfaction in their lives. That is accomplished, she said, “through integrated vocational, therapeutic, residential, and business services.”
Gateway Hudson Valley is located at 1 Amy Kay Parkway in Kingston.
