ALBANY – Calling the Green Light law that allows undocumented residents in New York to obtain drivers’ licenses “dangerous,” State Assembly Republicans renewed their call for repeal.

Following a briefing with Congressman Tom Reed (R, NY), Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R, Deerpark) said the law poses a danger to all New Yorkers. “As a son of a police officer, it is very offensive that this was even passed and we are going to do whatever we can to fight it,” he said.

The lawmaker said he will be signing on to legislation calling for the repeal of the law.

The Republicans say the law has prohibited the state DMV from providing critical information to the Department of Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies.
