SAUGERTIES – A resident of the hamlet of Ruby, who was recently released from prison, has been arrested by Saugerties Police in connection with a rash of residential burglaries in the Village of Saugerties.

The crimes occurred between February 3 and 12 and involved the theft of cash, musical instruments, video game consoles, video games, jewelry and other personal property.

An investigation by Saugerties detectives, which involved the execution of several search warrants in Saugerties and the Town of Ulster, resulted in the recovery of most of the property that had been stolen.

On February 14, police arrested Dusty Michael Gilbert, Jr., 27, who was found hiding in an apartment in the Village of Saugerties.

He was charged with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail as a predicate felony offender.

He was recently released from prison and was on parole at the time of his arrest. Town of Ulster Police assisted in the investigation and the State Department of Corrections has filed a warrant revoking Gilbert’s parole release.
