ELLENVILLE – State Police are continuing to investigate the 45-year-old homicide of an Ulster County man.

On August 24, 1974, Efraim Bello, also known as Frank, 45, of Kerhonkson, was found shot to death in the Town of Rochester. He was found by troopers on the scenic overlook on Route 44/55 during a routine patrol.

Bello was last seen at P&G’s Bar in New Paltz on the night of August 23, 1974. Witnesses reported he appeared to be there alone.

He spoke with and danced with a woman who had come into the bar and then left alone at about 11 p.m.

At about 4:40 a.m. on August 24, troopers on patrol spotted Bello dead with apparent gunshot wounds.

Over the years, several interviews have been conducted with patrons of the bar and local residents. Numerous leads were also investigated.

It is believed that an individual or individuals have information critical to the investigation and are urged to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at the Wawarsing barracks at 845-626-2863.
