Rosendale PD arrest man with stolen gun

ROSENDALE – The Rosendale Police Department has arrested a man for criminal Possession of a firearm, criminal possession of stolen property – a firearm, and resisting arrest.

The man, whose name police did not make public, was arrested after he engaged officers in a foot pursuit, resisted arrest, and was found in possession of a handgun that had been previously reported stolen.

The arrest stemmed from a vehicle and traffic stop, in which the man was a passenger in the vehicle and was in possession of in excess of one-half pound of marijuana. He was released on an appearance ticket and released to reappear in the Town of Rosendale Court at a later date.

He is currently awaiting trial on a previous criminal possession of a firearm charge that occurred in another jurisdiction.

The officer was treated at the scene for injuries sustained.

The Rosendale Police Department was assisted on the scene by members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and their K-9 team.
