NEWBURGH – One of the two men shot and wounded in the South Clark Street area of the City of Newburgh Tuesday evening is a Newburgh Free Academy-North student.

The student, who was not identified in a memo circulated among school district personnel, obtained by Mid-Hudson News, said the student is in the ICU at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.

The memo, written by Raul Rodriguez, co-principal at NFA, said the schools should “continue with the normal building routine. If you have a student/staff member that you are concerned about, please refer to their cohort administrator. If you need assistance please communicate with us through the mail office.”

A Shot Spotter notification alerted to 17 gunshots in the area of South Clark between Renwick Street and Benkard Avenue.

City and State Police continue to investigate the latest violence in the city.
