NEW WINDSOR – State Senator James Skoufis (D, Woodbury) has won the support of New Windsor Town Supervisor George Meyers.

Skoufis is a Democrat; Meyers is a Republican. “I’m not so much interested in people’s parties. I’m more interested in the job they are doing for the residents of New Windsor, and I think that Senator Skoufis has been doing a great job. He’s young and energetic and just what we need,” Meyers said.

The supervisor said Skoufis and he are working together to rebuild the town’s infrastructure, clean up town water, promote responsible development and get the town’s “fair share” from Albany to keep town taxes down.

Meanwhile, town Republican Chairman William Smith said Skoufis’ “attempt to cast Supervisor’s Meyers’ endorsement as a measure of bipartisanship is patently dishonest and reflects upon the senator’s character,”
