NYACK – A New City man was arrested on a felony DWI charge just before 9 on Friday night as he exited the Thruway onto Polhemus Street in Nyack. His car was driving on three wheels and had body damage.

The Orangetown Police officer stopped the car in a parking lot.

The driver, Steven Rabinowitz, 69, was found to be driving in an intoxication condition. He was administered a chemical breath test, which he failed.

A check of his driving record indicated a previous conviction for DWI within the last 10 years, which elevated this incident to a felony.

As a result, Rabinowitz was charged with felony DWI for having a previous conviction within 10 years with a blood alcohol content of over .08 percent. He was also charged with misdemeanor reckless driving.

He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Nyack Justice Court.
