Fire in Pearl River damages home

PEARL RIVER – A Friday night fire at a home on South Middletown Road in Pearl River damaged the structure.

Police were called to the scene at about 6:36 p.m. for a fire that had spread from the yard to the space under the home’s deck.

Pearl River firefighters responded and extinguished the fire without incident. Nanuet firefighters assisted under mutual aid.

The Orangetown fire inspector was called to the scene and was in the process of determining the cause.

The Rockland County Highway Department responded to salt the roadway, which had frozen over during firefighting operations.
