MARLBORO – Fire that broke out around 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon left a mother and her two sons homeless and claimed the life of their cat. Flames were visibly shooting from the home at 37 Grand Street in Marlboro as a second alarm was sounded.

A GoFundMe page has been created to raise funds for the family.

“She’s a registered nurse that lives her life trying to save others,” the author of the fundraising page wrote. “She worked so hard to get to where she was to provide for her family being a single mother. So you can imagine the devastation when she got the phone call while working that everything was gone.”

Extensive damage as a result of the fire.

The author said her oldest son lived in an apartment in the back along with his girlfriend and they lost everything as well.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
