Heather Howley named to Stewart Airport Commission

ALBANY – Every member of the Stewart Airport Commission – the advisory body to the state Department of Transportation, the landlord to New York Stewart International Airport – is serving in an expired term. As is the case with other commissions, they will remain in those posts until they are reappointed or someone else is named in their place.

According to state records, at least one member of the commission, Paul Quartararo, has been serving in a term to which he was appointed in 2001 and expired in 2004.

That doesn’t sit well State Senator James Skoufis (D, Woodbury), who believes all positions should be current. “It is really imperative that the state plays catch up and stops putting these commissions and their nominations and re-nominations on the back burner,” he said. “It is incumbent upon us as a state government to make sure that these commissions, which represent local taxpayers and residents in New York, are up to date well maintained.”

To that end, Skoufis has nominated Heather Howley, president of Independent Helicopters at Stewart, as a new member of the commission.
