Two charged with rash of Rhinebeck burglaries

RHINEBECK – Two men have been arrested by Rhinebeck Police following several break-ins and burglaries in the area.

A local business, a local church and a shed were all broken into on the morning of December 10.

Police cracked the case in short order and arrested Stephen Dachs, 22, of Red Hook and Xavier Christiansen-Mulhern, also 22, of Rhinebeck by 7:15 a.m.

During the course of the burglaries, property was stolen and criminal mischief was caused. The majority of the stolen property was recovered after a search warrant was executed in Rhinebeck.

Dachs was charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of petit larceny and two counts of criminal mischief, criminal possession of stolen property unlawful possession of marijuana and possessing an open contain of alcoholic beverage. He was arraigned in village justice court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

Mulhern was charged with two counts of burglary, petit larceny and criminal mischief. He was arraigned, released and ordered to be on electronic monitoring.

Rhinebeck Police were assisted by the State Police Uniformed Patrol as well as Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation is continuing.
