ROTTERDAM – State Senator George Amedore (R, Rotterdam) announced on Friday that he will not seek re-election in 2020.
“I truly believe in public service and giving back to the community, and it has been a great honor to serve the residents of the 46th Senate District,” he said. “As I have said in the past, I did not intent to be a career politician, and at this time, this is the right decision for my family and me.”
Amedore, 50, has served in the Senate since 2015 representing a district that spans from northern Ulster County to Montgomery County.
Prior to serving in the Senate, he was a state assemblyman from 2007 to 2013.
Amedore is a homebuilder by profession.
