KINGSTON – Only three votes separate Ulster County district attorney candidates
Michael Kavanagh and David Clegg.

Kavanagh, a Republican, holds the slight edge over the Democratic Clegg.
There were eight write-in ballots in Tuesday’s election.

On Wednesday, Clegg’s campaign said with “thousands of absentee ballots
still remaining to be counted, [he] is not conceding the closely contested race.”

Kavanagh earned 24,969 votes to Clegg’s 24,966 votes.

It will likely take weeks to count, recount, and certify the absentee ballots
before a winner will be declared.
