Three arrested for illegal drug activity in Columbia County

Westchester DA Miriam Rocah is launching a program to reduce drug prosecutions.

CHATHAM – Three people were arrested within days of each other in two separate investigations by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Charley Cintron, Jr., 41, and Kimberly Hines, 49, both of Chatham, were charged with felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell.

On the evening of October 19, the sheriff’s office Drug Enforcement and Education Unit and the State Police Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at 34 Hudson Avenue in the Village of Chatham. Both suspects were home at the time along with a 13-year-old child.

Investigators recovered 25 grams of heroin and fentanyl, over $2,000 in cash and items used in the same and distribution of the drug including scales and packaging materials.

Police said the street value of the drugs seized was approximately $3,700.

Two days before, on October 17, sheriff’s deputies arrested Carlos Santos, 63, for felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Armed with a search warrant, police stopped Santos on Route 9 and 23 in the Town of Greenport. They seized 75 packets of heroin and fentanyl. He was sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
