WHITE PLAINS – A New Rochelle man pled guilty in Westchester County Supreme Court to attempted burglary stemming from residential burglaries in Mount Vernon and New Rochelle.

Trey McDowell, 31, pled guilty as a persistent violent offender to two felony counts of attempted burglary. He is scheduled to be sentenced in January 2020.

After a series of residential burglary in 2018, New Rochelle Police identified McDowell and his red Honda Accord and began surveillance. During that time, Mount Vernon Police identified the car as having been used by a residential burglar in their city.

On January 2, 2019, New Rochelle Police found the same car outside an apartment building and saw McDowell inside a victim’s apartment closing a window. Police saw him leave, get into the car and drive away. A short time later, they pulled him over and found the victim’s property both on him and in his car. McDowell was immediately arrested.

In addition to being a serial burglar, McDowell was previously convicted of three violent felony offenses in Westchester County and New York City. He was on parole for a 2013 attempted robbery committed in Yonkers.
