SAUGERTIES – Police have charged a Mount Marion man with petit larceny for allegedly stealing a neighbor’s cat.
Saugerties Police received a complaint about a missing cat on August 24 and through investigation and interviews, determined that Joseph Gambichler, 48, of Mount Marion Park, had allegedly trapped his neighbor’s pet and took it several miles away, reportedly leaving it in a field.
A search of the area where the cat was said to have been abandoned turned up no evidence of the animal.
On September 5, Saugerties Police arrested Gambichler and charged him with the misdemeanor.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to town court.
