GOSHEN – A Glenwood, New Jersey man, who was hired by a Town of Chester woman to perform electrical work, pled guilty in Orange County Court on Thursday to installing a hidden camera in her bathroom.

Joseph Krenicky, 48, entered a plea to a charge of unlawful surveillance before Judge Craig Stephen Brown.

At the time of his guilty plea, Krenicky admitted he had installed a hidden camera in the woman’s bathroom.

He has been charged with a similar crime in New Jersey.

In the Orange County case, he admitted to keeping video files of the Orange County homeowner as she stepped into and out of the shower, and using those video files for his own sexual gratification.

Pursuant to a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend that Krenicky be sentenced to one to three years in state prison, concurrent with whatever prison sentence he receives in New Jersey.

He will also be required to register as a sex offender. He will be sentenced next month.

The Orange County case began after New Jersey State Police executed a search warrant at Krenicky’s Glenwood home.

Video files of those Krenicky had surreptitiously recorded were recovered from his computer.

Town of Chester Police were instrumental in identifying the Orange County victim.

“One can scarcely conceive of a greater invasion of privacy than being surreptitiously recorded in the bathroom of your own home,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “Homeowners must necessarily allow contractors and others into their homes to perform work. Those who abuse their ability to access homes to use technology to invade the privacy of unsuspecting victims deserve incarceration.”
