KINGSTON – The City of Kingston submitted just under $10 million in grant applications to the state through the 2019 Consolidated Funding Application process.

The city applied for 10 grants for seven separate projects. The awards will be announced in December.

Mayor Steven Noble said any funding the city secures will be less that the city taxpayers have to shell out for the important projects.

“We’re doing everything from applying for funds to rebuild our bulkhead along the waterfront, which is a huge economic engine for Downtown Kingston, to also reducing the amount of sewer overflows we have into the Rondout Creek by helping to continue to separate our sewer system from our stormwater, but also historic preservation projects like helping to approve Academy Green, which is an historic treasure in Uptown Kingston,” Noble said.

Other funds would be applied to the Kingston Point Rail Trail, the Kingston/Ulster County Transit System Integration, and Dietz Stadium infrastructure site improvements.
