Brooklyn man sentenced for brutal rape of wife in Spring Valley

NEW CITY – A Brooklyn man was sentenced in Rockland County Court to 10 years in state prison and 20 years of post-release supervision following his May conviction after a jury trial on a charge of violent rape.

Holger Lema-Yaucan, 31, of Brooklyn, was convicted of rape, sexual abuse, strangulation, aggravated criminal contempt and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

On September 9, 2017, Lema-Yaucan forcibly engaged in sex with his wife in their home at the time in Spring Valley. During the attack, he strangled her and punched her in the face several times.

Lema-Yaucan’s two young children were in the room during the violent sexual assault.

He was arrested by Spring Valley Police two days after the attack.

When released from prison, he must register as a sex offender.
