Abe Rosenberg chats with Sheriff Schiff

SOUTH FALLSBURG – Sunday was the fourth Coffee with the Sheriff meet-and-greet event with Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Schiff. While the three previous ones held at eateries in South Fallsburg, Grahamsville and Livingston Manor brought out some local folks, this most recent two-hour event attracted a much larger group.

Many came out to express their concern about the two mass killings over the weekend.

Sullivan County resident Abe Rosenberg, a community leader, complimented Schiff and the sheriff’s department for providing safety and security for all peoples in the county, in particular the thousands of Jewish residents who come up from New York City during the summer months.

“Should we say we feel 100 percent safe; you can never feel 100 percent save because when you deal with people with the type of terrorism that has been going on, these are not pre-planned things that we know who is going to come and what is going to come,” Rosenberg said. “But, we always have to be vigilant and pray to God that it should never affect anyone and definitely not us.”

Anti-Semitism has been one of the rising tides of hate and bigotry in recent times.
