Funeral service Monday for Ulster official

KINGSTON – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday for James Maloney, the Ulster County legislator and town assessor for Ulster and Kingston, who passed away on Thursday, July 11. He was 61.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home at 27 Smith Avenue in Kingston.

The funeral service will be held at Saint Joseph’s Church in Kingston on Monday morning followed by interment at Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.

James Maloney

Family and friends noted Maloney always put people first. He was a strong advocate for the local county fire departments, securing many grants for their companies.

He also raised money for Shriners Children’s Hospital. He previously owned the Governor Clinton Restaurant and worked as a private assessor. Maloney was also a member of the Ruby Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda, his sister Kathy Jerent and her husband, Rich; brother and sisters-in-law and his canine companions Spencer and Jenny.
