North Carolina man arrested for illegal gun possession

MILAN – A Jacksonville, North Carolina man is in the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond after police found him in illegal possession of a weapon.

State Police at the Rhinebeck barracks arrested Jose Bermudez, 26, of Jacksonville was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation while driving on the Taconic State Parkway in Milan on June 28.

He was found in illegal possession of a Beretta Pico .380 automatic handgun, approximately 1.2 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

He was charged with weapon possession, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a controlled substance, all as felonies, and misdemeanor criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
