CORTLANDT – A Cortlandt man who was operating a motorcycle was killed in an crash with an SUV last Thursday afternoon, June 27.
State Police said Matthew Hickey, 30, was pronounced dead at Hudson Valley Hospital.
Police said the driver of a Jeep Cherokee, a 32-year-old Cortlandt woman, was westbound on Kings Ferry Road in the Town of Cortlandt and attempted to make a left turn onto Hunt Road, failing to see the Hickey’s eastbound motorcycle.
Troopers said it appears he laid the bike down in an attempt to avoid the collision, but was struck by the SUV.
The State Police Troop K Collision reconstruction Unit was also on the scene.
