Croton-on-Hudson man charged with vehicular assault in Poughkeepsie pile-up

POUGHKEEPSIE – A Croton-on-Hudson man who was involved in the multi-car crash that also involved a bicyclist and a pedestrian in downtown Poughkeepsie on Monday has been charged with felony vehicular assault and misdemeanor DWI.

Dutchess County Sheriff’s Captain John Watterson said David Small, 40, is accused of driving while intoxicated and contributing to the crash that led to one person being seriously injured.

Preliminary investigation found that Small’s vehicle was traveling westbound on the Arterial when it struck two cars that were stopped or stopping at a red light at Hamilton Street, proceeded through the red light and struck a box truck in the intersection, then continued on and struck the bicyclist and pedestrian in the crosswalk.

Small was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
