CARMEL – Election Day 2021 is still more than two years away yet Sheriff Robert Langley has decided to seek reelection.

Democrat Langley defeated former four-term Sheriff Donald Smith, a Republican, in 2017 in what some considered a shocking upset.

The Friends of Langley is starting to fund-raise his reelection for what a spokesperson noted “we are ready for whatever challenger he faces.”

“I intend to run for Sheriff in 2021,” Langley said. “My team and I have accomplished a lot in a short period of time since taking office, and we want to see all of our initiatives through. Campaigns cost money, and, as in my 2017 run, I will rely again on friends, family and other supporters to help finance the work of reaching voters. Every day, I work for all of Putnam. And my campaign will be strongest when people all across the County are invested in and feel they are part of my team. We’re starting now so our team is robust and ready for the 2021 election season.”

Langley’s Hello Summer Fundraiser is planned for Friday at the Antipodean Book Store on Garrison’s Landing.
