Vice President Pence addresses West Point graduation

WEST POINT – The United States Military Academy Class of 2019 graduates Saturday as the 985 members are commissioned as second lieutenants in the US Army.

Vice President Mike Pence delivered the commence address to the class telling the members “You’re ready.”

Pence told the graduates that the values of Duty, Honor, Country are engraved in the class rings, but now are “in your hearts.”
Pence told the graduates “we’re standing with our allies and standing up to our enemies.”

He said thanks to the courage of US armed forces,”the last inch of territory under the black flag of ISIS is liberated.”

He said no matter where the graduates are deployed, they will be “the vanguard of freedom.”

The vice president noted the Class of 2019 is the most diverse in the academy’s history with the 1,000th Jewish graduate, the 5,000th female cadet including the highest number of Hispanic women, and the highest number of African American women graduates.
