Man indicted in West Haverstraw stalking and stabbing

NEW CITY – A Bronx man was indicted by a Rockland County grand jury on five counts including attempted murder.

Anthony Russell, 24, is alleged to have stalked his estranged girlfriend and stabbed her 23 times while in West Haverstraw. She had an order of protection against him.

She survived the wounds. Acting Rockland County District Attorney Kevin Gilleece said Russell was also charged with assault, aggravated criminal contempt, criminal contempt and aggravated harassment. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
