Farley: “lower property taxes” TUXEDO – Chele Farley, who ran unsuccessfully against US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in November 2018, announced on Tuesday that she will run for Congress in the 18th District of New York in next year’s election. Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney currently represents the district. The Republican said she will also seek the Conservative and other party endorsements. The private equity executive lives in Tuxedo. The district includes all of Orange and Putnam counties and portions of Dutchess and Westchester counties. She said last year’s election “marked a radical shift left with some politicians like Sean Patrick Maloney embracing socialism,” Farley said. “His agenda of government-run healthcare and the Green New Deal will result in much higher taxes and skyrocketing energy rates which will hurt families and small businesses.” Farley said New York needs lower property taxes and significant infrastructure improvements. She is a supporter of President Trump’s policies, but she will not back him blindly. “When his policies are good for New York, I will support them,” she said. “We have unemployment that is at all-time lows, we’ve got a stock market that is at all-time highs. I think his renegotiation of the agreement for NAFTA, is fantastic; however, when his policies aren’t good for New York like losing the state and local tax deduction, I will negotiate and make them better. Unfortunately, there is nobody who is able to negotiate that, and I want to do that,” she said. Maloney responded to Farley’s announced candidacy saying, “The folks I work force want someone focused on solving their problems. There will be plenty of time to worry about politics next year.”
