NEWBURGH – The rain held off long enough for the Newburgh City Memorial Day parade to be held.
One of the largest parades in the region, marchers from veterans to police and fire departments, Revolutionary War reenactors and bands marched from upper Broadway all the way down to Washington’s Headquarters.
Hundreds of people lined the route, waiving American flags and cheering.
At Washington’s Headquarters there was a solemn service in remembrance of those who have died in service to our county.
And former Mayor Nicholas Valentine and his wife, Susan, dressed the part of George and Martha Washington.
Mayor Torrance Harvey joined others as they place wreaths at the memorials at the headquarters property.
