MARLBOROUGH-PLATTEKILL – The 320 acres of forest and farmland in the towns of Marlborough and Plattekill – the Masterson and Faurie Farm, have secured a conservation easement through the Wallkill Valley Land Trust.

The easement secures the future of the scenic property and ensures it will remain a working farm and natural resource for generations to come.

“This conservation easement protects a beautiful and productive piece of Ulster County farmland, and it provides a critical wildlife corridor for a variety of species,” said Land Trust Executive Director Christie DeBoer.

This is the second such easement completed by the Wallkill Valley Land Trust in the Town of Marlborough and the first in the Town of Plattekill, expanding our land preservation work further into southern Ulster County,” said Board President Joe Pirrotta.

This property has a history dating back to 1910, when Lynn Faurie’s grandfather purchased the land as a family vacation getaway. It was started as a modest fruit farm, growing grapes, apples, pears and tomatoes. In the 1940s, the family transitioned to dairy farming. Today, the farm raises beef cattle.
