PUTNAM VALLEY – An off-duty Westchester County police officer residing in Putnam Valley was killed Thursday evening when his Kubota compact tractor overturned ejecting him.

The Putnam Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Alfred Mosiello, 42, of Seifert Lane.

Undersheriff Thomas Lindert said 911 calls sent members of the sheriff’s office, Putnam Valley Fire Department, Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps and an Empress paramedic to the residence off Peekskill Hollow Road around 6:30 pm.

Authorities said the tractor had just been delivered and Mosiello was operating the machine when it went out of control.

He was rushed to Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Peekskill-Cortlandt but could not be saved.

Putnam Valley Supervisor Jackie Annabi was saddened by the tragic news. “Our entire town mourns Officer Mosiello and we pray for his wife and two young children.”

Westchester County Police Commissioner Terrance Raynor mourned the officer’s passing. “With appreciation and respect we remember his honorable service to our department and the people of Westchester. Al’s passing is a tremendous loss for his wife and two children, the entire Mosiello family, his many friends, and his brother and sister officers in our department.”

Mosiello was a police officer for more than a decade, beginning his career in 2013 with the Pelham Manor Police Department. He transferred to the Westchester County Police Department in December 2021 where he served as a member of the Patrol Services Division.
