GOSHEN – National Crime Victims’ Week takes place April 21-27, and Tuesday evening a vigil was conducted at the Orange County Government Center to honor crime victims and their families for their unneeded suffering.

The theme of the vigil was “How would you help? Options, Services and Hope for Crime Survivors,” which asks community and family members, criminal justice and medical professionals, victim service providers and others about how they would help crime victims.

“It just shows me about the strength of humanity,” said Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus, regarding the families of crime victims, who stay strong while living with the grief caused by others.

Families of crime victims brought photos of loved ones who suffered by the criminal action of others as law enforcement officials, and Neuhaus, commemorated their humanity for living with their pain, while trying to lead positive lives.

“Progress in improving the treatment of crime victims has been made through the efforts of thousands of victims and survivors who have turned their own experiences to a force for positive change ensuring others can receive justice and meaningful assistance and compassionate treatment before the law,” said Neuhaus.
