Fire destroys vacant Newburgh building

NEWBURGH – A mid-afternoon fire at 8 Van Ness Street in the City of Newburgh gutted the vacant 2 ½ story building.

The two-alarm fire that broke out around 2 p.m. on Friday resulted in a partial collapse of the top story of the structure.

Several area fire departments responded to assist Newburgh while others were on standby.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation and there were no reports of injuries.
