Mary Ann loved to entertain and together with John, often hosted friends and family for unforgettable holidays, celebrations and gatherings.  As the matriarch of her family, Mary Ann had the ability to make everyone feel welcome, and always left a lasting impression on them.  Her warmth, kindness, and energy will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, John J. Smith, her parents, sister, Maureen Dorsey, brother, CPL William Dorsey and daughter-in-law, Avery Chappell-Smith.

(Eva), Kevin (Marc), Michael, Patrick (Holly), and Hilary (Maria), her beloved nine grandchildren, Brendan (Jamie), Sven, Meghan, Emma (Chad), Owen, Ellery, Mara, Emeline, and Stillman, and great-grandson William.  Also survived by sisters Susie and Margaret (William) brothers John Jr (Carol); Edward; Kevin (Kristin) and Robert (Lian), her brothers and sisters-in-laws, William (Loretta) and Francis (Pauline) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dozens of life-long friends.
